Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Examining Clerk/Technician to join our team at the Internal Revenue Service. As a Tax Examining Clerk/Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of taxpayer accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze various sources to identify and resolve tax issues, including obtaining necessary documentation and information.
  • Verify and adjust taxpayer accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Secure payment of delinquent taxes and file delinquent returns, as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to taxpayers on tax-related matters.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • One year of specialized experience in tax examination, compliance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with taxpayers and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in tax laws, regulations, and procedures, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
