Project Engineer Intern

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer Intern to join our team at Hoffman Corporation. As a Project Engineer Intern, you will assist the project team in various areas, including coordination of site logistics, subcontractors/vendors, and field inspections. You will also be responsible for quality control, schedule management, estimating, BIM/VDC, safety, and document control from project preconstruction through closeout.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the project team in coordinating site logistics, subcontractors/vendors, and field inspections.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Manage project schedules, including tracking progress, identifying delays, and implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for project completion.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement BIM/VDC models and safety protocols.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of project progress, including meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including trade and craft personnel, to ensure smooth project execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree.
- Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method.
- Familiarity with CSI specification system for construction.
- Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with critical path method scheduling software such as Suretrack Project Manager and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments. The successful candidate must possess strong organizational and computer use skills, as well as a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction-related documentation, and communicate with coworkers. The position involves frequent travel to construction sites and requires the ability to lift and carry documents and survey equipment up to 40 pounds.
