Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. We're seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for evaluating and caring for respiratory therapy patients. You will administer prescribed respiratory therapeutic services, perform basic and advanced diagnostic procedures, and maintain clinical and professional competency based on established standards of practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by order of the physician.
  • Assembling, checking, and correcting malfunctions and performing quality controls on Respiratory Care equipment.
  • Initiating, maintaining, and discontinuing mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Communicating effectively with other members of the healthcare team regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Providing assistance with patient and family/caregiver education along with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Actively participating in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.

Requirements include:

  • Licensed by West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Registered (LRTR), or applicable state where services will be performed, or temporary license, if permitted by state regulations.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, and/or other certifications may be required within 30 days of hire based on local hospital requirements.
