Wastewater Treatment Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team at Selmet. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring our wastewater treatment systems.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and be able to operate complex equipment, including acid waste neutralization systems, lab equipment, and zero liquid discharge water reclaim systems.
You will also be responsible for managing inventory, performing physical chemical inventories, and coordinating documentation with EHS Admin for HazCom and EPCRA requirements.
In addition to your technical skills, you will possess excellent problem-solving abilities, strong organizational skills, and high attention to detail. You will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
About the Role:
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment systems, including acid waste neutralization, lab testing, and zero liquid discharge water reclaim.
- Manage inventory for wastewater treatment and bulk acids.
- Perform physical chemical inventories and coordinate documentation with EHS Admin for HazCom and EPCRA requirements.
- Maintain hazardous waste, universal waste, and used drum 90-day storage area.
- Assist departments in pumping out satellite oil drums into tank and ensure the area is clean and maintained per SPCC & universal waste regulations.
- Monitor recycled oil tank and oil containers.
Requirements:
- 1-5 years' experience in a wastewater treatment or manufacturing plant (preferred).
- Current RCRA hazardous waste, DOT HazMat, and ERT certification (either 40-hour HAZWOPER or 24-Hour Industry Technician Emergency Responder Training) is highly desirable, but not required.
- Good reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organization skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

This is a full-time position working weekend day shifts with overtime available based on business needs. Estimated salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year depending on qualifications and location.
