Job Summary

Northwell Health is seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for protecting and safeguarding system property, personnel, patients, and visitors. You will maintain order, detect crime, and work to prevent future occurrences; operate system vehicles; and enforce System Security policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol and monitor buildings and grounds to protect life and property and to prevent fire, thefts, vandalism, illegal entry, and enforce hospital policies.
  • Enforce access control policy; secure doors, locks, etc., and activate or deactivate alarms as required.
  • Control and regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic in a safe, orderly, and respectful manner.
  • Operate and maintain facility vehicles in accordance with regulatory compliance and policies.
  • Operate and maintain all security and facility equipment in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines and facility policies.
  • Write incident reports in accordance with policies and procedures to document events.
  • Check contents of packages. Assist security personnel in the performance of their duties, through the use of physical force, when required.
  • Report all fire hazards and safety violations; escort hospital personnel as required.
  • Perform related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid NYS Security Guard license or a current NYS Police/Peace Officer as defined by the NYS Criminal Procedure Law section 1.20 required.
  • 1 year as a NYS licensed Security Guard preferred.
