We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to lead our inpatient psychiatric unit at Polara Health, an accredited community mental health facility in Prescott and Prescott Valley Arizona. As an Inpatient Psychiatric RN Lead, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care and support to patients with mental health disorders within our inpatient unit.

The successful candidate will possess excellent assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations. They will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of patients upon admission, developing and implementing individualized nursing care plans, administering medications, monitoring patients' progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical and mental health evaluations, to identify areas of need and develop effective care plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patients' needs, diagnoses, and treatment goals.
  • Administer medications accurately and monitor their effectiveness, ensuring adherence to prescribed protocols and documenting any changes or concerns.
  • Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, managing crisis situations, and promoting a therapeutic environment that fosters healing and growth.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and treatment plans, ensuring seamless communication and clear expectations.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' progress, documenting observations and reporting changes in their condition to the healthcare team.
  • Facilitate and participate in therapeutic groups and activities, promoting patients' engagement and skill-building.
  • Educate patients and their families on mental health disorders, medications, self-care strategies, and community resources, empowering them to take control of their well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, care provided, and progress notes, adhering to professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously assess the health status of clients and families, prioritizing their needs and adjusting care plans as necessary.
  • Direct the daily activities of the nursing staff, ensuring efficient workflow and effective care delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, embracing opportunities for growth and improvement.

Requirements

  • A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arizona is required.
  • 2 years of experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based nursing interventions is essential.
  • Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations, are critical.
  • Proficient in administering medications and managing potential side effects and adverse reactions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Compassionate and non-judgmental approach in providing patient-centered care.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
