Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for providing clinical services to our patient population, maintaining knowledge of safe laboratory practices, and conducting yourself in a manner consistent with those practices to ensure the safety of all lab personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis in the Department of Laboratories.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance.
- Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.
- Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.
- Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols.
- Perform high complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using both manual and automated methods.
- Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique.
- Assist in implementing and validating new procedures.
- Actively engage in continuing education in order to enhance the department, including a willingness to attend conferences and offsite training whenever possible.
- Interact in a professional manner with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers and other members of the hospital community.
- Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
- Pass days and holidays as assigned.
Qualifications
- SL-1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant experience.
- SL-2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 2-5 years demonstrated relevant experience.
- SL-3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Generalist with a strong background in Point of Care Testing.
- ASCP Certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Biological or Life Sciences.
- Master's Degree.

- Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen.
- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $85,680 - $108,665.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087 for location, Some positions offer shift differentials for Night ($10,000) & Evening ($15,000) as well as $575 for inconvenience for positions not on day shift. Please visit these links to learn more.
