We are creating connections to empower agriculture, and our Animal Nutrition team in Norfolk, NE seeks a skilled Feed Mill Operator to join our team as a key component in the formulation of high-quality ingredients for animal health.

This position offers diverse shift availability during afternoon or overnight hours to fit your lifestyle, such as 3p-12a or 11p-8a, along with competitive pay and unbeatable benefits. As a Feed Mill Operator at CHS Inc., you will perform various operational tasks such as bagging, mixing, pelleting, receiving or managing loading functions based on business needs.

About the Job

Under general supervision, the Feed Mill Operator will carry out labor responsibilities promptly and efficiently, including:

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of commodities handled at the location and complying with company policy and government regulations.
  • Working with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Preparing trucks and railcars for loading/unloading, which may require sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches, and attaching and/or detaching flexible hoses.
  • Loading and unloading agricultural inputs from railcars and/or trucks using heavy or light-duty machinery/equipment.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for controlling and monitoring all load-out functions, understanding and operating automated scale/dump systems, conducting daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, and ensuring the quality of inventory.

Additionally, the Feed Mill Operator will deliver products to customer sites, maintain a clean and safe work environment, perform grounds maintenance, operate warehouse equipment, and report any customer complaints, repair or maintenance needs, or safety concerns to their supervisor.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Meet the minimum age requirement.
  • Have 1+ year of experience in operations and/or business operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile; ability to work extended hours during peak seasons; high school diploma or GED preferred; CDL license or ability to attain one with Hazmat endorsement preferred; mill or manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have the physical ability to lift 75 pounds, climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins, and work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 per year.
