Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Chandler Industries is a leading contract manufacturer with a strong commitment to delivering world-class quality and on-time performance. We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of payroll, including bi-weekly processing, monthly and ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer biweekly payroll for 250+ employees, including accurate entry of hours worked, earnings, deductions, and expenses.
  • Review, audit, balance, and post payroll and labor data on a weekly basis.
  • Set up and maintain garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, W-4 updates, direct deposits, and other related items as needed.
  • Review HRIS-generated monthly, quarterly, and annual statements and required reporting.
  • Support the Finance department with Accounts Payable and Receivable duties, including processing and maintaining invoices, verifying accuracy, tracking and ensuring timely payments, and following up on outstanding balances.
  • Assist with finance reporting requests.
  • Responsible for employment verification requests.
  • Oversee and manage all tasks related to tax reporting and payments with the payroll vendor, including escheatment and reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts. Ensure accurate and timely filing of year-end tax returns, W-2s, W-2Cs, and forms 940 and 941.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to update and maintain 401(k) and benefit elections for all employees.
  • Processes new hire paperwork and benefit changes to include additions/terminations/LOA/change reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, keep abreast of all new legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Management, IT, and external vendors to define, test, and implement system modifications, new payroll or HR products, and enhancements to existing systems to meet evolving business needs.
  • Maintain the integrity of the department's HRIS data; respond to report requests, table changes, and security changes.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of payroll experience.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or 5+ years of demonstrated payroll experience.
  • Proficient with using HRIS and ERP systems.
  • Prior Accounts Payable and Receivable experience.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Well-versed in the legal aspects of payroll, federal and state taxes, wage and hour laws, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong Communication, time management, and organization skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results.
  • Ability to view business issues in perspective and follow-up on projects/assignments and be able to prioritize and participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-directed; ability to work independently.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Paylocity HRIS experience.
  • Epicor ERP system experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
