Education Leader for Special Needs Students

**About the Role**
Boston Public Schools is seeking a visionary and dynamic educational leader to serve as an Assistant Program Director at the Mel King Academy. As a member of our administrative team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of students with moderate to severe behavioral, emotional, and learning disabilities.
**Responsibilities**
As an Assistant Program Director, your key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and guiding Guidance Advisors/Special Needs Teachers, Vocational Teachers, and Instructional Assistant Trainees
- Conducting classroom observations and completing performance evaluations
- Maintaining regular communication with clinical consultants, therapists, and school psychologists
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Quality School Plan, Program Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines
- Ensuring compliance with regulations and laws governing special education services
**Requirements and Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A Master's degree in education, special education, or a related field
- At least three years of experience in teaching or a related human services professional role, preferably in special education
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and cultural competence
- Licensure as a Principal/Assistant Principal or Supervisor/Director
**Benefits and Compensation**
We offer a competitive salary range of $88,432 - $124,052 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, we provide benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
**Location and Work Schedule**
This position is based at the Mel King South End Academy, a public day school serving students with moderate to severe behavioral, emotional, and learning disabilities. The work schedule is traditional, with 207 days per year plus differential for required additional time and work.
