Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Assistant to join our team at Lincoln Public Schools. As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive health care to students, working under the supervision of the School Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather data and assist with planning, implementation, and evaluation of the health needs of students.
  • Administer medication and treatments to students according to health care provider orders and parent/guardian written authorization based on established guidelines and district policy.
  • Follow communicable disease control procedures and inform and advise administration and/or parent/guardians regarding school exclusion and readmission.
  • Provide nursing and/or medically prescribed interventions care for students.
  • Provide first aid care to injured students and staff and complete incident reports as indicated.
  • Assist with school health screening programs by scheduling appointments, performing initial screening assessments, and assisting with follow-up procedures.
  • Review immunization records for compliance mandates.
  • Participate in the management of the school health office by assisting with organizational structure, updating health records and immunization records, and collecting statistical information according to state regulations and district policies.
  • Report physical and sexual abuse and neglect of children as mandated by law.
  • Identify students at risk and communicate information to the School Nurse as appropriate school personnel.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse current licensed in Massachusetts.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications.
  • Minimum of two years experience in nursing.
Work Schedule

Assistant Nurses are paid to work up to 33 hours per week. 33 hours per week is considered equivalent to a 1.0 FTE. This does not include a 30-minute unpaid break. Assistant Nurses work 185 days: the 180 days when the students are present and a combination of five (5) additional days. The five (5) additional days will be scheduled by the Administrator of Student Services, in collaboration with the Assistant Nurses, to occur either directly before and/or after the school year.
