Job Overview

This position is part of the professional staff team within the Division of University Life. The Assistant Director of Community Standards will be responsible for managing residential conduct in collaboration with the Office of Student Conduct and Housing and Residence Life.

Salary Range

Salary range starting at $65,000; commensurate with education and experience.

Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Coordinator for Community Standards;
  • Provide leadership and support for the Graduate Assistant for Community Standards;
  • Oversee management of the system database utilized by hearing officers for case adjudication and development;
  • Serve as a primary student conduct case manager for incidents involving residential students;
  • Assign cases to appropriate hearing officers and/or adjudication boards within Housing and Residence Life;
  • Serve as a hearing officer for high-level cases;
  • Advise the Community Adjudication Board or Residential Adjudication Board as needed;
  • Facilitate restorative justice models as needed;
  • Appeal cases adjudicated by Residence Life staff;
  • Track and manage case data to ensure guidelines are met effectively;
  • Train hearing officers on the conduct process;
  • Oversight of the Residential Adjudication Board;
Assessment & Outreach:
  • Gather and report data for monthly, semester, and annual reports;
  • Track trends advising programming initiatives for Residence Life staff;
  • Collaborate with the assessment team on educational sanctioning and internal procedures;
  • Outreach to residential students regarding rules and regulations;
  • Develop educational sanctioning opportunities;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on policies and initiatives impacting the residential community;
Required Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Progressive experience in residence life and/or student conduct;
  • Experience administering the conduct process;
  • Demonstrated skill in written, oral, and interpersonal communication;
  • Ability to build relationships across teams;
  • Manage multiple projects and administrative responsibilities;
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in student development and education with conflict resolution background;
  • Supervising student or graduate staff;
  • Working with Guardian or similar case management software;
  • Establishing successful new programs or partnerships;
