Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Counselor to join our team at Temple University. As a Financial Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing financial, credit, and debt management counseling and education services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial counseling and education to patients to help them understand their financial obligations and develop strategies to manage their debt.
  • Conduct complex insurance verification and eligibility determinations to ensure patients receive the necessary coverage.
  • Perform administrative and clerical functions, including data entry and record-keeping, to support the financial counseling process.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address financial barriers to care.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize bad debt risk and improve financial outcomes for the hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • 2 Years experience as a financial counselor or related role in a healthcare environment (Required)
  • 5 Years experience in a clerical role (Required)
  • General Experience and knowledge of hospital registration and third party billing and regulations (Required)
  • General Experience in bi-lingual Spanish and English communication (Preferred)
