Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for gaining new clients and growing existing client business in line with our growth strategy and country sales budget.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain relationships with multiple levels and departments within prospects to strengthen relationships.
- Understand and stay informed of customers' businesses, industries, and sectors to identify opportunities and articulate where Rhenus can provide value within the customer's supply chain.
- Effectively execute sales activities and maintain a pipeline to generate revenue to meet or exceed net revenue goals and expectations.
- Understand market conditions and competitive landscapes to provide efficient and effective modes of transportation solutions for customers.
- Win, retain, and develop customers through sales activities by actively setting appointments for face-to-face sales meetings with customers and following the schedule laid by inside sales.
- Assess prospective accounts as profitable, significant, or strategic to secure winning bids.
- Build rapport and trust with customers by being informed about their businesses and the market.
- Support customer retention through collaboration with all resources, including product teams, other sales channels, and local station management.
- Responsible for increasing gross profit and market share while developing ongoing relationships with new customers.
- Execute strategic sales in line with company growth plans.
- Develop and implement strategies and tactics to meet and preferably exceed given targets.
- Use CRM to identify, call, and track prospects to gain core business and strategic customer opportunities.
- Recommend solutions based on customer needs by using industry knowledge.
- Manage opportunities and risks to secure the interests of Rhenus.
- Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in the 3PL or related industry.
- Strong persuasion skills, work ethic, integrity, and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated negotiation and sales strategies experience.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Values a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Strong ability to establish and manage relationships with varying levels of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate competence in conflict management, decision making, and strategic planning.
- Good working knowledge of domestic freight forwarding services, supply chain, including ocean and air (export and import).
- Familiar with Incoterms issues by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
- Able to achieve results by setting high standards and committing to clear objectives.
- Located within 300 miles proximity of the sales territory and willingness to travel.
- Able to make decisions independently in a creative and effective manner, as well as plan and prioritize effectively and proactively.
- Fluency written and spoken in English; bilingual a plus.
- Permanent full-time contract with a 40-hour work week.
- 15 vacation days per year.
