Job Summary:

The Bilingual Nurse is a vital member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team at Midtown Health Center, providing quality nursing care and immunizations in accordance with established nursing standards. As a key player in patient care delivery, this role requires strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, co-workers, and the public.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares patients for examinations by directing and accompanying them to the examining room, providing examination gowns and drapes, and assisting with positioning.
  • Verifies patient information through interviews, reviews medical history, takes vital signs, and confirms the purpose of visits or treatments.
  • Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing medical instruments, and other assigned clinical duties.
  • Diligently documents delivery of healthcare and nursing processes according to clinic policies and procedures, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Administers medications and vaccines accurately, documenting in electronic health records.
  • Maintains an efficient, safe, secure, orderly, and aseptic environment of care for all patients and employees.
  • Initiates referrals to other sources of healthcare as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • As a Licensed Practical Nurse, educates patients and families/significant others about diagnoses and care plans, acting as a resource for facilitating communication when needed.
  • Interacts with clinic personnel to ensure optimal patient care and obtain optimum patient flow and increased patient satisfaction.
  • Performs laboratory functions according to provider orders, including venipunctures (excluding jugular) for laboratory testing.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to identify, evaluate, and prioritize patient and family needs to develop a plan of care.
As a Registered Nurse:
  • Coordinates delivery of patient care provided by the healthcare team.
  • Coordinates and delegates timely processing of patient referrals, prescribed medications, and other identified needs of patients.
  • Acts as a resource within the clinic regarding patient care.
  • Assesses patient conditions and symptoms, acting as triage for the clinic.
  • Stays up-to-date with new information and materials by reviewing clearinghouse information, newsletters, and periodicals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This role requires exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as a team member. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for addressing clinic needs. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret oral and written instructions and follow up accordingly.

Specific knowledge of community health resources for alternate health services, community health nursing principles, and clinic functions is required. Proficiency in utilizing EHR, Nesiis, and communicable disease reporting systems is also essential.

Requirements:
  • Nursing degree from an accredited college/university
  • Two years of nursing experience in a clinical setting or hospital preferred
  • Experience in medical/surgical nursing and immunizations preferred
  • Current unrestricted nursing license in the State of Nebraska
  • Current certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to utilize own transportation for work purposes
Estimated Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
