Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Roanoke City Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing occupational therapy services to students with special needs, with a focus on minimizing the impact of their limitations on their educational and life pursuits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform occupational therapy evaluations on referred students and develop written reports based on evaluation results, clinical observations, consultations, parent/caregiver input, and teacher interview.
  • Provide direct intervention and/or consultative services to students receiving occupational therapy services.
  • Modify intervention based on student's response and progress towards goals.
  • Adhere to and provide the amount, frequency, and duration of occupational therapy specified in the IEP.
  • Prepare for and attend IEP meetings for students receiving occupational therapy services.
  • Supervise occupational therapy assistant (COTA) staff members.
  • Complete and maintain necessary records of documentation.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an occupational therapy program (Master's level) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or predecessor organizations.
  • National certification by the Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, or evidence of passing the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy national examination.
  • Licensure by the Board of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as an occupational therapist.
  • Experience as an occupational therapist working in a school-based setting is preferred.
