Scaffold Construction Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Scaffold Builder to join our team at Turner Industries. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for constructing and dismantling scaffolding systems on various industrial sites in the Piedmont, SC area.

This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled professional with experience in scaffold construction, inspection, and maintenance. You will work closely with our team to ensure that all scaffolding systems are safely designed, installed, and operated.

• Inspect surfaces for holes, objects, and levelness before assembling scaffolding components
• Assemble scaffold structures consisting of guardrails, mid-rails, braces, planks, toe boards, screens, and wheels
• Position scaffolding systems by rolling them into place and securing them to permanent structures using ties

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• 1-4 years of experience in scaffold construction, depending on your level of expertise
• The ability to read and interpret engineered drawings
• Familiarity with operating different types of forklifts
• National certification in scaffold safety, although not mandatory, is highly preferred
• The ability to pass a written pre-employment qualification test
• Results of a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Hazard Communication orientation and testing
• Turner Industries Group LLC indoctrination
• OSHA-approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
• Job site orientation and adherence to client-specific safety requirements
• Safety equipment as required by the client, such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, and safety harnesses with lanyards
• The ability to provide a toolbox, tool belt, adjustable wrench, ratchet wrench with socket, claw hammer, cutting pliers, torpedo level, tape, and rain suit

This position requires:

• Climbing ladders, scaffolds, and structures above and below ground level
• Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, and structures
• Reaching in all directions, handling, and manipulating objects and materials
• Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment
• Lifting 30-50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and overhead
• Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
• Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, and crawling
• Visual acuity with or without correction
• Auditory perception with or without correction
