Scaffold Construction Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Scaffold Builder to join our team at Turner Industries. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for constructing and dismantling scaffolding systems on various industrial sites in the Piedmont, SC area.
About the Role
This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled professional with experience in scaffold construction, inspection, and maintenance. You will work closely with our team to ensure that all scaffolding systems are safely designed, installed, and operated.
Responsibilities
- Inspect surfaces for holes, objects, and levelness before assembling scaffolding components
- Assemble scaffold structures consisting of guardrails, mid-rails, braces, planks, toe boards, screens, and wheels
- Position scaffolding systems by rolling them into place and securing them to permanent structures using ties
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- 1-4 years of experience in scaffold construction, depending on your level of expertise
- The ability to read and interpret engineered drawings
- Familiarity with operating different types of forklifts
- National certification in scaffold safety, although not mandatory, is highly preferred
- The ability to pass a written pre-employment qualification test
- Results of a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Hazard Communication orientation and testing
- Turner Industries Group LLC indoctrination
- OSHA-approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
- Job site orientation and adherence to client-specific safety requirements
- Safety equipment as required by the client, such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, and safety harnesses with lanyards
- The ability to provide a toolbox, tool belt, adjustable wrench, ratchet wrench with socket, claw hammer, cutting pliers, torpedo level, tape, and rain suit
Physical Demands
This position requires:
- Climbing ladders, scaffolds, and structures above and below ground level
- Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, and structures
- Reaching in all directions, handling, and manipulating objects and materials
- Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment
- Lifting 30-50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and overhead
- Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
- Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, and crawling
- Visual acuity with or without correction
- Auditory perception with or without correction
Mental Demands
This position requires:

Work Environment Factors
This position involves working in:
- Industrial maintenance and construction sites
- Uneven ground levels
- Obstructed pathways
- Work performed at low and/or high elevations
- Confined areas
- Predominantly outdoor climate
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, rain, and noise levels
- Potential exposure to chemical substances
