Job Summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a skilled Plasma Processing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for evaluating donor suitability for plasma collection, administering immunizations, and providing emergency medical care to donors and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate donor suitability for plasma collection and administer approved immunizations.
  • Provide emergency medical care to donors and staff, including medication administration and treatments.
  • Promote positive customer relations with all donors.
  • Conduct confidential interviews with donors to obtain necessary information for suitability.
  • Collaborate with the Center Medical Director and/or Center Physician to respond to medically related questions and provide information on donor suitability and medical issues.
  • Perform medical history reviews and health assessments on donors, assessing results of donor screening and laboratory tests.
  • Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results, referring them to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
  • Explain informed consent to applicant donors, including procedures, hazards, and potential adverse events.
  • Handle medical emergencies at the Center, providing routine care and elevating situations to the Center Physician or local medical service providers as needed.
  • Review test results and determine continued donor suitability, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding acceptable ranges of four-month required test (PE/STS) reports.
  • Assess signs and symptoms that may result in the inability to continue donating.
  • Manage employee hepatitis B and influenza immunization program, including administration of immunizations.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center, overseeing donor immunization programs and reviewing antibody titer results.
  • Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, following SOPs.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
  • May be required to be bilingual to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications
  • Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program, or medical school required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare environment or one year of clinical experience from a vocational or nursing institution.
  • Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
  • Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.
  • Ability to instruct donors, staff, and community regarding the benefit of plasma donation programs.
