Surgical Technologist

This role assists in procedures competently and professionally, ensuring appropriate handling and maintenance of equipment and supplies, and ensuring availability of equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. Scrubs for surgical procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the registered nurse (RN).
Key responsibilities include direct patient care duties, such as assisting physicians during procedures, and maintaining required clinical knowledge, technical skills, equipment, training, and credentials. The incumbent works in a patient care area, exposed to blood, body fluid, and tissue, and may be at risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
This role requires good organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to demonstrate good judgment. The incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and adapt to change in a positive, constructive manner.
Preferred qualifications include certification in surgical technology and one year of experience in a similar medical setting. Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is also required. The incumbent must remain knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.
