At Parkland Health and Hospital System, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Director to lead our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall direction and daily operational activities of the department, including planning, budget, personnel, quality improvement, and collaboration with physicians and administration to ensure high-quality, patient-centered services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effective fiscal management of multiple departments, including preparing the annual budget, analyzing revenue and losses, and implementing cost-effective practices.
  • Responsible for drafting quality management practices in support of patient-centered services, collaborating with Quality and Risk management staff, and monitoring trends.
  • Acts as a leadership resource for physicians, nurse managers, faculty, staff, patients, and families, providing reports for administrative and staff review, and demonstrating responsiveness to innovation and cross-discipline expertise.
  • Responsible for a collaborative work team to ensure positive working relationships, communicates effectively with physicians, department leaders, ancillary staff, and vendors, and maintains good communication with other hospitals and community healthcare providers.
  • Responsible for the condition and safety of the department facilities, including cleanliness, equipment, and environmental safety, and oversees timely and effective maintenance of equipment and rooms.
  • Participates in hospital-wide and interdisciplinary committees as appropriate to specialty.

Requirements:

  • MSN or DNP Degree from an accredited Professional School of Nursing.
  • Eight (8) years of current NICU registered nurse experience.
  • Three (3) years of Level III NICU Director experience.
  • Experience gained within a teaching hospital is highly preferred.
  • Current/Valid State of TX RN License and/or temporary permit; or Current/Valid Compact State RN license, in good standing without any stipulations.
  • Current/Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider completion card at the time of hire from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network.
  • An additional Specialty Nursing Certification is highly preferred.
