About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Land Surveying Technician to join our team in Mobile, AL. As a key member of our survey department, you will be responsible for collecting and processing survey data using various instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate total station, digital level, and Topcon data collector to collect survey data.
  • Assist the Surveyor Party Chief in daily responsibilities, including loading and unloading survey equipment from company vehicles.
  • Travel to job sites as required, staying overnight based on workload demands.
  • Ensure all work activities comply with Thompson Engineering's Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, safety policies, procedures, and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses.
  • Participate actively in monthly safety meetings, project toolbox safety meetings, and safety moments.

Requirements:

  • Five years' verifiable experience in commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout is required.
  • Must possess working knowledge of GPS software using the Topcon Hyperlite.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  • A valid Driver's License is mandatory, as is a TWIC card.
  • The ability to read and comprehend measurements, along with intermediate math skills including trigonometry and coordinate geometry, is essential.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work outdoors up to 100% of the time, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Lifting a minimum of 50 pounds is required, as well as remaining standing for at least eight hours per day and walking long distances.
  • Bending, stooping, and climbing on ladders may be necessary as part of the job duties.
  • Able to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites.
