Environmental Sustainability Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Assistant Project Manager to join our team at YU & ASSOCIATES INC in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
About the RoleThis is a mid-level position that involves conducting office and field work for clients in compliance with environmental and hazardous materials regulations. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Project Manager and be responsible for scheduling work, communicating with clients, budgeting projects, and performing related duties as required.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate and sample suspect materials in compliance with sampling protocol for asbestos/lead paint and other hazardous substances.
- Project monitoring during asbestos abatement to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Develop and/or review abatement and remediation plans and specifications, including reading architectural and MEP drawings.
- Evaluate laboratory results, assess, and delineate the extent of hazmat location areas.
- Assist Project Manager in developing survey reports, abatement plans, and construction documents for abatement.
- Interact with responsible parties and their representatives to facilitate effective communication.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of environmental regulations and protocols.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD (preferred).
- Excellent writing and communication skills to effectively convey complex information to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to comply with Federal, State, and NYC regulations on abatement and handling of hazardous materials, including EPA guidelines.
- NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator, NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector and Project Monitor; EPA Lead Inspector; NYSDOL Mold Assessor certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work both in the office and in the field, with quick mobilization for field work if required.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment when working in hazardous conditions.
