Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Utilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at Salm Partners, LLC. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, compressed air systems, fire protection systems, water and wastewater systems, natural gas systems, and chemical treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all plant utility systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Perform regular scheduled preventive maintenance on utility equipment and plant facilities, documenting all activities in our CMMS system.
  • Conduct daily inspections and complete verification logs on all systems to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Support our PSM program by maintaining accurate documentation, reviewing SOPs, and providing audit support as needed.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors and services to perform scheduled preventive work or inspections, and provide support as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work requests to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform basic machinist and welding duties as needed.
  • Monitor water treatment systems, including boilers, cooling towers, and plant systems.
  • Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, including changing filters and cleaning coils as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain air compressors and vacuum pumps.
  • Perform plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions as required.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report any unusual situations to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow established equipment Lockout/Tagout procedures at all times.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations as outlined in our company policies.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Mechanical Technology, Electro-mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a USDA-regulated environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Forklift certification or ability to achieve certification upon placement in the position.
Working Conditions

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with varying temperatures ranging from 35° F to 100° F in different work areas. The work environment is often wet and slippery, and the noise level in the production work environment is usually loud. Maintenance Partners are required to wear frocks, hairnets, hearing protection, and EH-rated composite toed slip-resistant footwear at all times on the production floor.
