We are seeking a highly skilled Payment Processing Associate to join our team at Markel. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts to minimize the risk of bad debt exposure to the company. This role involves answering customer phone calls, resolving billing problems, and setting up financial arrangements as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with producers and customers to meet service level standards.
  • Perform reconciliation of unapplied cash to open receivables, offsetting transactions, and initiating disbursements where applicable.
  • Review agent, broker, and customer payment discrepancies to determine origin and initiate appropriate action.
  • Review agent, broker, and customer accounts at least monthly and initiate communication to resolve overdue balances.
  • Stay current with AR status of assigned agents, brokers, and customer accounts to meet current goals and metrics.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required, some college preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • General accounts receivable knowledge with a minimum of 1 year accounts receivable experience preferred.
  • P &C Insurance background preferred.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Flexibility and attention to details.
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement.
