Job Summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a skilled Mission Planner/Orbital Analyst Trainer to develop and deliver operations training curriculum to government customers.

About the Position

This role requires an experienced instructor to design, develop, and deliver training material to support automated scenarios, mission exercises, and certification check rides for the customer and internal operations personnel.

The selected candidate will work with the Systems Engineering Lead to identify training needs and develop training plans and curriculum such as lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, mission scenarios, and evaluation tools.

Responsibilities include working with mission operations personnel to ensure training curriculum and scenarios accurately represent current operational documentation used during on-orbit checkout, satellite commissioning, and execution of the primary mission(s).

This position may also support system development activities such as requirements management, architecture development, integration, and test, and formal program milestones.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience planning Rendezvous and Proximity Operations and creating and delivering orbit analysis and mission planning training to internal and external trainees.

A strong background in orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, and simulation/scenario development is required.

The selected candidate must be able to meet rapid development timelines and have experience with MS Office Suite products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Education, or related field (Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Minimum of 9 years of Operations/Training experience
  • U.S. citizen
  • Clearance level: Top Secret SSBI / SCI eligible required

Preferred Qualifications

  • STEM bachelor's degree
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Web/video-based training development experience
  • Lesson plan and test/quiz (original work) development experience within DoD programs
  • Simulation/scenario development experience
  • Experience utilizing training development tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, or Articulate Storyline 3
  • Ability to conduct a range of modeling, simulation, and analysis in orbital maneuvers and orbit estimation
  • Expertise in technical disciplines such as orbital propagation and perturbations, orbit estimation, orbital maneuvers, modeling, simulation, and analysis
  • Familiarity with astrodynamics tools, including FreeFlyer, System Tool Kit (STK), NASA General Mission Analysis Tool (GMAT), and Orbit Determination Toolbox (ODTBX)
  • Advanced Orbital Mechanics knowledge and experience
  • Experience with agile process / scrum
  • Experience with JIRA

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000
