Job Title: Micrographic Imaging Technician

Job Summary:

The Illinois Secretary of State is seeking a skilled Micrographic Imaging Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Micrographic Services division, you will be responsible for operating Computer Output Microfilm Systems, producing archival microfilm, and ensuring the highest quality of microfilm products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently operate Computer Output Microfilm Systems, including Archive Writers, Scanners, CD-DVD Burners, and peripheral equipment.
• Monitor quality of microfilm to ensure it meets archival standards, rerunning jobs as needed and making corrections to errors.
• Inspect developed film to ensure accuracy, locate defective or unsatisfactory images, and refilm as necessary.
• Determine the cause of defective frames and make adjustments to prevent future issues.
• Compare microfilm images to originals to ensure proper reproduction.
• Maintain records of documents microfilmed and camera setup, inspect equipment for malfunctions, and make minor adjustments as needed.
• Perform routine clerical duties, including typing, proofing, recording data, filing, and answering phones.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of directly related experience.
• Working knowledge of micrographic reproduction equipment, techniques, and materials.
• Ability to operate and maintain various types of reproductive equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions of some complexity and use logical reasoning.
• Keen observation and good vision with/without corrective lenses.
