Intelligence Analyst

The Boston Police Department's Bureau of Intelligence & Analysis is seeking a skilled Intelligence Analyst to join their team as a Homeland Security Specialist. This role will play a critical part in supporting law enforcement investigations and managing analytic portfolios focused on domestic terrorism, violent extremism, and other homeland security matters.

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will collect, review, and disseminate data and sensitive intelligence to law enforcement and other partners. Your meticulous attention to detail and analytical skills will be essential in researching documents, reports, and internet-based material, applying analytic techniques, and summarizing results.

You will utilize software technologies, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs, as well as geospatial and social network analysis platforms. Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary for coordinating with internal and external partners verbally and in writing.

A key responsibility of this role is to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements while protecting privacy and civil liberties. You will also provide tactical analysis to law enforcement field operations using analytic software and write reports.

To succeed in this position, you should have a strong understanding of privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties issues in local law enforcement and intelligence fusion centers. Knowledge of the National Threat Evaluation and Reporting Program and the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative is also required.

This role requires subject matter expertise in behavioral threat assessment, violent extremism, and international/domestic affairs. Experience in law enforcement or fusion centers, as well as strong writing and briefing skills, are necessary for success. A background check and national security clearance at the Top Secret level are mandatory prerequisites.

We offer competitive salaries based on experience. For this role, the estimated salary range is between $83,000 and $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location.
