About the Role

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Special Procedures Technician to join our team. As a Special Procedures Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting in conducting prescribed specialized radiologic procedures in the Special Procedures area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain adequate inventory of materials and various supplies, recommending procurement of necessary supplies as needed.
  • Coordinate scheduling of patients with admitting department, referring physicians, nursing staff, and inter-departmental sections.
  • Document all charges and radiology charges for each exam.
  • Provide instruction to technologists and auxiliary personnel through formal and informal education.
  • Maintain standards of radiation safety throughout the department.
  • Assist Radiologists and other qualified physicians (under Radiologist supervision) in performing Special Procedures.
  • Calculate and select proper electronic and technical factors, position patients, and adjust x-ray table to achieve optimum radiographs.
  • Ensure patients' safe transfer into and out of Special Procedures suite.
  • Process all radiographic and prepare film/images for review by radiologist.
  • Organize and coordinate studies with previous x-ray studies.
  • Use sterile techniques while assisting or setting up sterile trays and necessary equipment.
  • Maintain special procedures room for cleanliness, supplies, etc., following each exam.
  • Operate radiographic equipment integrally with mechanical injector at injection rate and amount directed by radiologist.
  • Provide direct patient care to all age groups from neonatal to geriatrics.
  • Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved School of Radiography.
  • One-year experience in Special Procedures.
  • Registration with the ARRT.
  • Diagnostics Radiography License.
  • VI Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or CV Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
