Rare Materials Cataloguer

The John Carter Brown Library at Brown University is seeking a Rare Materials Cataloguer to join its team. This is a fully on-site position that requires expertise in cataloging and digitization of rare materials, with a focus on Spanish and Portuguese languages.
Key Responsibilities- Creating MARC records using various DCRM standards to catalog library collections
- Developing NACO records and occasional SACO records
- Working with JCB staff across departments to support discovery and access work
- Collaborating with colleagues to resolve complex bibliographic problems
- MLS degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of five years' experience using various DCRM standards and OCLC Connexion
- Fluency or demonstrated proficiency in Spanish and Portuguese languages
- Working knowledge of Latin and other European languages
- Knowledge of European and Latin American history
- Strong English language communication skills
- Knowledge of enumerative bibliographical sources and research techniques
- NACO independence and experience developing SACO proposals
- Considerable knowledge of online database searching and technical processing
- Experience using the Exlibris integrated library system (ILS) for Alma and Primo
- Ability to work with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Excel
- Understanding of policies and practices within the special collections library world
