Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at St. David's Surgical Hospital. As a key member of our patient-focused care team, you will be responsible for providing critical care and diagnostic procedures to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment
  • Perform a range of technical procedures related to cardiopulmonary hemodynamics
  • Demonstrate competency in proper airway care
  • Assess patients appropriately, interpret results accurately, and suggest alternative respiratory treatment
  • Exhibit competency in the performance of routine patient assessment and in the ability to correctly recognize and interpret respiratory dysfunction
  • Function as a respiratory care protocol assessor by delivering therapy and reassessing patients in a timely manner and maintaining proper and accurate documentation
  • Communicate regularly with physicians and nurses about patient care plans and updates
Requirements
  • Acute Care Hospital experience preferred
  • Graduate of an American Medical Association accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license
  • Current certification as Basic Life Support (BLS) provider
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for NICU RRT Staff
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required for ICU RRT staff

A campus of St. David's North Austin Medical Center, this hospital features 40 inpatient rooms, several operating suites, pre-op and PACU bays, and an intensive care unit (ICU). The campus specializes in orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, gynecological, and urological surgeries, but includes services such as imaging and pharmacy.
