Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Engineer Assistant to join our team at the New York State Division of Water. As an Environmental Engineer Assistant, you will play a key role in implementing and assisting with various Division of Water programs and activities at the regional level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and assist with various Division of Water programs and activities at the regional level, including the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES), Water Withdrawal, Flood Control, Floodplain Management, Dam Safety, Dredging, Rotating Integrated Basin Studies (RIBS), Lake Assessments, Water Quality Improvement Projects (WQIP), and Engineering Planning Grants (EPG).
  • Manage multiple work assignments at the same time and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with a variety of people, including municipal officials, wastewater operators, consulting engineers, and the public.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or engineering technology, or proof of passing the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience. You must also have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to effectively communicate and interact with a variety of people.

Working Environment

This is a full-time position that requires strong organizational and time management skills. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
