Job Summary

The Program Support Staff (PSS) is a vital member of the Interfaith Works New Leaf Shelter team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our 30-bed emergency shelter for adult individuals experiencing homelessness. As a PSS, you will play a key role in providing a welcoming and supportive environment for our guests, while also maintaining a safe and compliant program.

Key Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service and trauma-informed care to all individuals
Monitor program-related activities, including signing in/out of the program, medication consumption, meals, chores, and laundry
Ensure proper documentation of daily activities, including incident reports and grievances
Participate in mandatory staff meetings and trainings as required by contract
Perform other duties as required

Requirements

Minimum of a High School diploma with at least two years of experience working in any service delivery field or social service field
Excellent communication skills and ability to listen well
Ability to work as a team member and provide excellent customer service
Proficient with word processor, search engines, and other computer programs
Ability to interact well with volunteers and other visitors to the program

Work Environment

The Interfaith Works New Leaf Shelter is a low-barrier, mixed-gender emergency shelter. The PSS will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with guests, volunteers, and other staff members. The physical demands of this position include standing, walking, sitting, and reaching, with occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
