Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Critical Care

Lifespan is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to join our team at Rhode Island Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary critical care team, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert pharmaceutical care to patients in our 6 ICUs, including medical surgical trauma neurocritical care cardiac and cardiothoracic units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Emergency Response: Respond bedside to medical emergencies and code blue activations, ensuring optimal medication therapy.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimize medication use.
  • Formulary and EMR Optimization: Streamline medication processes and improve workflow.
  • Education and Training: Provide critical care education to residents fellows and physician assistants.
  • Pulmonary Hypertension and ECMO Program Support: Contribute to the management of these specialized patient populations.

Requirements:
  • Must be a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Maintains current unrestricted licensure as a licensed pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Maintains current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to neonate child adolescent adult and geriatric patients.
  • Successful completion of Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY-2) Residency from an accredited program in area of specialty if applicable and national board certification in area of specialty if available.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of time spent standing and walking.
  • Requires the visual and manual dexterity to operate a computer.
  • Occasional travel between facilities or sites is required.
