Iron Worker Journeyman

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Iron Worker Journeyman to join our team at Pepper Construction Company of Ohio, LLC. As an Iron Worker Journeyman, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of duties and tasks on the construction site, including assisting other tradespeople, connecting columns, beams, and girders, and operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts or welding them into place
• Reinforce/tye rebar in concrete construction
• Unload and stack prefabricated steel
• Use metal shears, torches, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld steel
• Place and set heavy machinery
• Erect and/or dismantle structural steel frames of structures
• Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment to lift steel columns, beams, and girders according to blueprints
• Work at heights and from aerial work platforms
• Rig structural-steel members to hoist cables using chains, cables, or rope

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred
• Proficient in industry tools and equipment, such as hand and power tools and welding devices
• OSHA 10, preferred
• Operator's certificate, preferred
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task
• Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts
• Able to lift at least 35 pounds, unassisted, and stand for extended periods
