We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Billing and Denials Coordinator to join our team at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas.

About the Role

This is a full-time position responsible for coordinating payer denials and appeals, responding to insurance company requests for medical records, and performing medical record reviews. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Review medical records to determine accuracy of billing through verification of coding, billing and supporting clinical documentation.
  • Coordinate all activity associated with insurance carrier audit requests and work with payers to ensure timely handling of these payer audits.
  • Review technical payer denials and determine whether an appeal is justified.
  • Write and track technical appeal letters and relay information with billing department.
  • Conduct audits to ensure accurate charge capture, enhance reimbursement and identify savings potential.
Requirements
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing required.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
