Wireless Network Systems Engineer with Critical Communications Expertise

We are seeking a skilled Wireless Network Systems Engineer with expertise in critical communications to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a leading research and development center, APL brings world-class expertise to address complex defense, security, space, and science challenges. Our team is passionate about developing innovative solutions for specialized wired and wireless networks.
About the Role:
- Research and develop new technologies to address evolving threats in wireless network systems.
- Engage with sponsors to understand and tackle their toughest problems in critical communications.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and scientists to design and implement cutting-edge wireless network systems.
Requirements:
- Possess a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or another technical discipline.
- Have at least one year of experience in communications, signal processing, or network systems engineering.
- Be proficient in communication theory and digital signal processing (DSP) with a solid foundational knowledge of the physical, data link, and media access layers of communication or networking systems.
- Have experience modeling and simulating the physical layer with MATLAB, Python, or other languages.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Be able to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and ultimately meet the requirements for access to classified information.
