Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Maritime Lawyer to join our dynamic team at Jobot. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for handling complex personal injury cases and providing expert representation to our clients.

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, managing intricate cases and making a significant impact on the lives of our clients. You will be expected to work closely with our clients, providing them with legal advice and representation in court.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or argue for plaintiff's rights.
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
  • Negotiate settlements of civil disputes, mediating between involved parties.
  • Conduct legal research and gather evidence.
  • Ensure the seamless transition of cases from discovery to trial phase.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Handle all aspects of litigation, including taking and defending depositions.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have the following qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Personal Injury Attorney.
  • Active membership of the state Bar.
  • Proven experience with Plaintiff, Mediation, Legal Writing, pleadings, and Jones Act.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • High level of initiative and works well in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Handles stressful situations and deadline pressures well.
