CSG Consultants Inc. is a reputable municipal services consulting firm seeking a seasoned Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Foster City, California.

We offer a competitive salary of $125,000 to $170,000 annually based on skills, experience, and location.

Job Description

This role involves planning, reviewing, designing, and managing the structural elements of public works projects. You will oversee multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate excellent project management skills.

  • You will be responsible for reading and interpreting maps, construction diagrams, plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance with governing codes and standards.
  • A strong understanding of California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards is essential.
  • You must exhibit sound judgment when reading and interpreting code requirements.
  • The ability to suggest alternate forms of compliance with codes and ordinances is also required.
  • You may supervise plans examiners, plan check engineers, and/or structural engineers.
  • Effective oral and written report preparation and presentation are crucial.
  • You will represent the department at internal and external meetings.
  • Staying current on legal and technical developments related to building construction and codes is necessary.
  • Mentoring and training engineers and plans examiners are part of your responsibilities.
  • You will perform structural design reviews on various structures.

Qualifications include 6 to 14 years of industry experience, with at least 5 years of reviewing plans for conformance to model codes. A current PE California License is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
  • ICC Certified Building Plans Examiner is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent communication abilities are essential.
  • You must be able to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • A valid Class 'C' California driver's license is required.
Working Conditions
  • You must be able to drive to job sites and walk through them for extended periods.
  • Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Sitting for extended periods is part of the job.
  • Work with detailed, finely printed documents.
