Job Title: Controls Technician
Job Summary:
Syntegon Technology is a leading supplier in the field of process and packaging technology. We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading equipment builds, startups, and application set up optimizations, as well as implementing creative and effective solutions to complex automation and application problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expert level support for complex software, controls, and automation problems on the shop floor
- Performing electrical and software automation commissioning tasks, including downloading software, firmware, and configuration files to machine controllers, HMI's, servo drives, VFD's, and other devices utilized on Syntegon equipment
- Defining dipswitch or Ethernet IP address settings of connected devices
- Performing I/O, motion, and communications testing for equipment to ensure proper wiring and functionality of connected devices
- Performing functional and communications setup and testing between Syntegon equipment and third-party equipment, including printing devices, vision systems, conveyors, pick and place equipment, bowl feeders, robots, etc.
- Efficiently building and modifying mechanical assemblies per the bill of material and assembly drawings while using hand and power tools
- Efficiently wiring machines, panels, and control circuitry (up to 575 Volts), adding electrical components based on project layouts and wiring diagrams (per NFPA 79)
- Successfully troubleshooting and problem-solving live power and control circuitry with test equipment
- Leading efforts to perform and document machine setups of all recipe/machine parameters in order to optimize machine performance
- Conducting a successful customer factory acceptance test while demonstrating and training customers on equipment operations and equipment functionality
- Supporting and coordinating activities and controls and software improvements with the controls engineering team
- Observing all safety regulations, making sure of wearing and using proper protective wear and tools, informing supervisor of any safety issues or hazards
- Contributing and being responsible to the Quality and Environmental awareness throughout the organization
Requirements:
- 2-year technical degree, preferred in Packaging, Automation, or Robotics degrees
- 5 years of job-related experience in building automated capital equipment
