Job Responsibilities

As a Vital Care Substitute Nurse, you will provide direct healthcare to students, implement health programs, and promote a healthy school environment. You will also serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, and healthcare providers.

Requirements and Qualifications
  1. A degree from an accredited professional nursing education program.
  2. A valid registered nurse (RN) license to practice professional nursing in Texas issued by the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  3. CPR Certification.
  4. At least one year of experience as a registered nurse.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  1. Information technology skills necessary to perform essential job requirements.
  2. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with administrators, teachers, and other staff.
  3. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  4. Certification to conduct vision, hearing, acanthosis, and spinal screenings; certified as an American Heart Association BLS Instructor.
