Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic

US Foods is seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing all required repairs on diesel equipment.
Competitive Compensation PackageWe offer a competitive hourly rate of $28-$33 per hour, depending on experience. In addition, you will be eligible for overtime compensation and a range of benefits, including health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
Job ResponsibilitiesYour primary responsibilities will include:
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
- Performing preventative maintenance within company standards.
- Completing documentation of all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
- Handling road service calls and performing road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
- Maintaining inventory and proper recordkeeping.
- Backing up other maintenance shop personnel.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- (3) years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic or a combination of both.
- (2) years of verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification or both.
- Reefer experience preferred.
- Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
- Independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in administering an appropriate PM program.
- Ability to read and communicate in the English language.
- Able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
- Computer and software experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and must be able to work overtime when needed.
