Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Instructor to join our team at Community Residences.

About the Role: As a Residential Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing environment that promotes learning and growth among our clients. Your primary goal will be to assist them in developing strategies to cope effectively with daily living situations, both inside and outside of the home.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Create a Positive Learning Environment: Develop and implement effective strategies to help clients manage their emotions, behaviors, and physical needs, ensuring a safe and supportive living space.
  2. Implement Individual Plans of Care: Work closely with the Interdisciplinary Team to create personalized plans that cater to each client's unique needs, including leisure activities, community experiences, and personal care.
  3. Monitor Client Progress: Regularly assess and document client progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervisor, RN Program Coordinator, or Program Director as needed.
  4. Medication Administration: Once certified, administer medications to clients at prescribed times, adhering to agency policies and regulatory standards.
  5. Schedule Medical Appointments: Assist clients in scheduling medical appointments, monitor follow-through on doctor's orders, and report any errors or discrepancies to the relevant authorities.
  6. Culinary Responsibilities: Participate in meal planning, purchasing, and preparation within budgetary constraints, ensuring clients' dietary needs are met.
  7. Maintenance and Upkeep: Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and upkeep of the house, properties, and vehicle, reporting any repair needs to the Program Manager or Coordinator in a timely manner.
  8. Professional Conduct: Engage in professional behavior when interacting with participants, supervisors, co-workers, families, medical professionals, and community members.
  9. Training and Development: Participate in training opportunities, maintaining required certifications and adhering to agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  10. Financial Management: Accurately account for agency petty cash and client funds, providing transparent and auditable records upon request.
  11. Client Confidentiality: Adhere to CRI's confidentiality policy, respecting individuals' right to privacy.
  12. Community Outings: Transport clients to community-based activities, ensuring adherence to individual support plans and following safety protocols.
  13. Policies and Procedures: Familiarize yourself with CRI policies and procedures, upholding compliance with all regulations.
  14. Community Engagement: Collaborate in developing positive relationships with neighbors and the broader community.

Requirements:

We seek a highly organized and communicative individual with experience in Human Services. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with at least two years of experience in the field. A Bachelor's degree in a related area is preferred. Additionally, candidates must possess a valid CT driver's license, have a good driving record, and reliable transportation.

Work Schedule: The successful candidate will work Sunday through Tuesday, 11pm-7am. This position requires flexibility, active work, and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
