We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lab and Logistics Manager to join our team at HyperLight. The person in this position will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day functioning of a state-of-the-art electronics lab, ensuring that high-value inventory and equipment are handled with the utmost care, and collaborating with the larger team to establish optimal lab and logistics operations.

This key hire will be an essential contributor to the entire value chain from design to testing to shipping of our high-value products.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure smooth lab operation. Keep spaces organized and functional. Inspect equipment and coordinate repairs, manage inventory, and optimize storage.
  • Work with team to manage a smooth and efficient schedule of equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Conduct visual inspections of semiconductor chips, identify issues, and support team efforts to uphold product standards.
  • Implement industry safety protocols, maintain safety records, and collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams.
  • Promote teamwork in the lab, coordinate across departments, and ensure clear communication about lab needs.
  • Assist in lab budget activities, monitor spending, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Manage shipping and delivery of high-value products, and work with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality, safety, and accuracy, and reduce risk.
  • Keep precise logistics records and enforce safety measures.
  • Research and implement best practices for logistics and packaging.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics).
  • Proven experience in a electro-optic or semiconductor lab environment as a Lab Manager or similar role. Biology or chemistry lab experience is not sufficient.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (VNA, oscilloscopes, microscopes, testers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of lab safety regulations and compliance, particularly ESD Management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong desire to learn by doing, and a bias for action.

Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is in-person at our office in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
