Job Summary

We are currently hiring Licensed Mental Health Professionals (LCSWs, LMHCs, LMFTs, etc.) to join our team at the Wayne County Jail located in Detroit, MI.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling notes, and suicide watch notes.
  • Coordinate with healthcare and security staff regarding patients' mental health care and release dates.
  • Participate in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-V/DSM-V-TR criteria.
  • Provide goal-oriented intervention directed toward management of terminal illness; reaction/adjustment to illness; strengthening of family/support system; conflict resolution related to chronic illness.
  • Counsel and provide intervention to assist in the transition to being incarcerated.
  • Document thoroughly all tasks as stated in clients' medical records to maintain social work recording and statistics.
  • Initiate and/or participate in patient education and treatment programs, such as developing educational materials and providing group therapy.
Qualifications
  • Master's prepared Mental Health Professional with active, unrestricted licensure as a LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, etc., in MI.
  • A valid CPR card.
  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a mental health care setting, with correctional healthcare experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders, discharge planning, principles of social work, basic principles of individual and group behavior, and a working knowledge of psychotropic medications.
