Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at the City of Titusville, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and implementing the QA/QC program in accordance with ISO standards for a NELAC accredited environmental laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement QA/QC procedures to ensure compliance with ISO standards.
  • Oversee and review quality control data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Evaluate data objectively and perform assessments without outside managerial influence.
  • Maintain training and working experience in QA/QC procedures and the laboratory's quality system.
  • Arrange for or conduct annual internal audits as per ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E), Clause 4.14.
  • Notify laboratory management of deficiencies in the quality system and monitor corrective action.
  • Perform acting supervisory and Technical Manager functions for the Laboratory Services Division in close coordination with the Water Resources Deputy Director, City utility personnel, and non-City water or wastewater utility clients.
  • Manage special projects for the Laboratory Services Division as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in the chemical, environmental, biological, or related physical sciences or related engineering, with at least 24 college semester credit hours in chemistry, 4 credit hours in general microbiology, and at least 2 years of experience with the chemical and microbiological analysis of drinking or wastewater.
  • Documented training and/or experience in QA/QC procedures.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater chemistry, analyses, techniques, and procedures in accordance with accepted practices of DEP, DOH, and NELAC.
  • Ability to interpret data from numerous analyses and prepare reports.
  • Ability to learn to use laboratory equipment and analytical techniques.
  • Knowledge and ability to work at a user level with standard City and laboratory hardware/software, including Promium LIMS, MSOffice, and City administrative applications.
