California Protons Cancer Therapy Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team. As a key member of our radiation oncology department, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Medical Physics in the operation of our proton radiation therapy clinic.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate dosimetric and treatment planning equipment with proficiency, including measurement instruments, computerized proton treatment planning systems, and computerized water phantom systems.
- Measure and analyze proton radiation data to ensure patient safety and dosimetric accuracy.
- Advises and consults with physicians to provide advice or direction to technical staff when patients are being planned or treated.
- Support and perform treatment planning for all disease sites.
- Develop protocols for performing and checking proton treatment plans to ensure patient safety and dosimetric accuracy.
- Perform patient-specific radiation measurements and calculations, and assist in the selection, specification, and optimization of complex proton PBS beam definitions required for patient treatment.
- Assist the Center's Radiation Safety Officer in maintaining compliance with local, State, and federal agencies regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the training of new physics and dosimetry staff.
- Participate in the Center's research and development projects, including all efforts related to clinical trials.
Requirements
- Post-graduate degree in Physics or related discipline.
- Clinical medical physics residency completed from a CAMPEP-accredited residency program.
- Current certification or eligibility for certification in field by American Board of Radiology, and maintenance of certification and continuation education requirements as outlined by American Board of Radiology.
- Board-eligible Medical Physics Residents are encouraged to apply.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to direct contact with patients with potential for exposure to blood, toxic substances, low-dose ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
