Application Architect

We are seeking a seasoned Application Architect with a strong background in systems architecture and security to lead our team in designing robust, scalable, and secure applications.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading architectural initiatives and ensuring that applications are both high-performing and secure against potential threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of application architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and security in support of short- and long-term business plans.
- Implement and enforce security best practices in application design, including data encryption, secure coding standards, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Work closely with development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and efficient application designs.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in systems architecture and security, and advocate for their adoption.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and eight years of experience in development or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices.
- Understanding of multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.
- Experience applying and utilizing enterprise architecture standards.
- Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.
- Ability to plan and manage projects.
- Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices.
- Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and ten years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Knowledge of one or more Microsoft technologies such as .NET and database platforms such as SQL Server and proficiency in PL/SQL.
- Scripting experience strongly preferred (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Experience designing, implementing, and consuming REST and SOAP services.
- Strong understanding of security controls and compliance (NIST, SOC2, NYDFS).
- Solid working knowledge of UML and design tools.
- Banking or financial services experience.
- One or more relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, TOGAF, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a plus.
