A challenging and rewarding career opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Program Director to join the team at Arete Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for building partnerships, evaluating programs, and monitoring student progress in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

The Strategic Program Director will work closely with our Executive Director and Community School Director to ensure the successful delivery of our afterschool and summer programming initiatives. This includes overseeing program curriculum, managing data, and leading a team of educators and partners to achieve our goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaison Role: Act as a key liaison between Arete Education, partnership schools, and supporting partners to build strong relationships and drive collaboration.
  • Planning and Coordination: Participate in weekly planning calls with the Executive Director to discuss program strategies and outcomes.
  • Payroll Management: Approve payroll hours and schedules for direct reports, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
  • Attendance Procedures: Oversee student and staff attendance procedures, supporting daily reporting to the Executive Director and Community School Director.
  • Curriculum Development: Organize and maintain program curriculum binders and digital files, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible to staff and students.
  • Program Evaluation: Identify needs, make recommendations for, and facilitate high-quality program activities that meet the needs of our students.
  • File Organization: Keep program files organized and up-to-date using Arete Google Apps, ensuring seamless access for staff and students.
  • SMART Goals: Set and monitor semester SMART goals for personal and program success, driving continuous improvement and growth.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and manage all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Student and Staff Recruitment: Support active recruitment of students and staff for programming initiatives.
  • Event Participation: Attend and participate in program-specific events, training, and staff meetings, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Culture Building: Practice empathetic listening and actively work to build a culture of transparency and trust across the organization.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other program teams across the organization to drive shared goals and objectives.
  • Social Media Engagement: Share photos, videos, and captions with the Arete social media team, promoting our programs and achievements.
  • Technical Skills: Regularly use Arete online tools, including Google Apps, PayCom, Youth Services Database (Cityspan), Jotform, and other essential software.
  • Innovation and Growth: Make recommendations to the Arete team on new projects, research opportunities, and funding sources to improve and expand programming.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate exceptional service skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, professionalism, a positive demeanor, and a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Representative: Always represent Arete Education and partner schools in the best light, consistent with organizational standards of conduct.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Community School Director.

Education and Experience

  • Masters Degree
  • Leadership Experience: 5-8 years of leadership experience in education and/or afterschool industry.
  • Prior Experience with Arete: Prior internship or work experience working with Arete Education preferred.
  • Mandated Reporter Training: Mandated Reporter and Foundations in Health and Safety online trainings required (7-hours).
  • Criminal Background Check: Department of Health and Department of Education background clearance.

Physical Requirements

  • Desk Work: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Classroom Mobility: Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to support program activities.

Salary Information

$85,000 - $105,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
