Medical and Surgical Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Medical and Surgical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Alto Health Care Staffing. This 13-week assignment offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide compassionate and evidence-based nursing care to patients in the Medical Surgery Unit, focusing on those requiring telemetry monitoring.
- Telemetry Monitoring: Utilize telemetry equipment to continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, identifying any abnormalities and taking prompt action when necessary.
- Assessment and Documentation: Conduct thorough patient assessments, document patient information accurately, and maintain up-to-date medical records. Report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, route, and patient education.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, including physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care plans to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean patient care environment.
- Emergency Response: Respond effectively to emergencies, including code situations, by following established protocols and providing appropriate nursing care.
- Professional Development: Stay current with advances in nursing practice, attend continuing education programs, and actively participate in departmental meetings and training.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
