Catering Specialist

Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and service. As a Caterer I, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our patients and staff receive top-notch food and beverage services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and prepare catered events, including menu planning, food ordering, and setup.
• Utilize creativity and knowledge to provide variety in menus for catered events.
• Provide weekly food orders and submit information for billing by the end of each week.
• Track catering equipment used for each event and ensure it's returned to storage.
• Work with the Director and manager to formulate menus and recipes for catering functions as needed.
• Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency of product.
• Provide sanitary conditions as outlined in the department Infection Control Policy.
• Demonstrate proper handling and operation of equipment.
• Assist in orienting new employees.

Requirements:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Current person in charge training or ServSafe food handler certification.
• Culinary School graduate (preferred).

Working Environment:

• Exposure to heat and humidity as well as cold.
• Potential for burns from using ovens, fryers, and hot pans of food.
• Potential for cuts from using knives.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to read and follow standardized recipes.
• Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
• Working knowledge of table of measure.
• Basic computer skills.

Additional Information:

• 40 scheduled weekly hours.
• Varied shift.
• Non-exempt position.
